Miller Place's Durkin Is Headed to Nationals

Miller Place High School Senior Lauren Durkin is turning heads and now will be competing for a National Championship. 

Durkin who is a competitive rower with Oak Neck Rowing Academy, along with her teammates, placed 1st in the Women’s Varsity 4X Quad and 2nd in the Women’s Varsity 2X/Double in the NYS Rowing Championship this past weekend. 

Last year Durkin took 2nd place in the 2024 NYS High School Championships and the Panthers rowing duo also placed 8th at the 2024 US Rowing Youth Nationals Championships.

The senior has had quite the career as she has also finished 2nd in the under 17 Gold Coast Classic Indoor Regatta. She ended up in 3rd place in the Saratoga Invitational Regatta Varsity and finished 2nd in the under 17 New York State Championship as well.

Lauren will now be competing in the Youth National Championships in Sarasota, FL in early June as she looks to add to her trophy case.
