This week there was yet another Obama-led initiative overturned by President Trump when he signed an executive order reinstating the presidential fitness test.
The fitness test was a staple for children for decades as a way to make sure they were in good physical condition. Originally beginning under President Dwight Eisenhower in 1956 the test required students to do physical activities such as running a mile, doing push ups and pull ups. Barack Obama ended the test as we knew it under his leadership but now President Trump has brought it back with a star studded cast leading the way.
Leading the order will be Paul Levesque, better known as "Triple H," who is a professional wrestler in the WWE and is now the chief content officer for the WWE. The Hall of Famer has been known to be one of the top physical specimens in the sport and was highlighted in fitness magazines throughout his career. Triple H is the son-in-law of Linda McMahon, the Secretary of Education.
Levesque took to social media after the signing to express his gratitude saying "Honored doesn’t begin to describe what this opportunity means. Physical fitness has been a part of my life from a young age and has created the path to support myself and family beyond my wildest dreams. The President’s Council on Physical Fitness is a vehicle to get young people active and healthy."
Trump appointed Saquon Barkley as one of 5 NFL stars who will serve on the newly-founded “President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.” The others are kicker Harrison Butker, defensive end Nick Bosa, former QB Tony Romo, and former Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor.
Also Roger Goodell, Tua Tagovailoa, and Wayne Gretzky will be part of the plans to overhaul Americas young health.
In attendance for the signing were golfer Bryson DeChambeau, and former pro-golfer 10-time major champion Annika Sorenstam.
Trump has been serious about getting America healthy again during his campaign and early on during this term. From naming RFK to his cabinet and now reinstalling the fitness test, he is living up to yet another campaign promise.
