Vincent J. Cavaleri | Ruland Funeral Home

Vincent Joseph Cavaleri was born on March 9, 1938, in Maspeth, New York, to Vincent Cavaleri and Lillian Haverly. He passed away on September 25, 2025.

Vincent is survived by his best friend and partner of forty-four years, Michelle. He is predeceased by his sisters Marie and Camille, and is survived by his sisters Dorothea Cavaleri and Patricia Wachter, as well as his brothers Victor, John, and Verne. He was the proud father of Vincent, Marie, Julie, and Chris. Known affectionately as “Silly Grandpa,” he shared endless laughter with his grandchildren—Daniele, John, Mikey, Nicole, Josh, Tiffany, Gina, and Talia—and as “Silly Great Grandpa,” he continued spreading joy with Maxwell, Ozzie, Hunter, Nico, Gavin, Jack, Mia, Riley, and Cameron. His playful spirit will remain with them always.

Vincent worked as a general contractor for over fifty years, licensed in New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Washington. He retired as an inspector with the Smithtown Building Department and later served as a consultant with the South Country School District. Known for his integrity, skill, and dedication, he built not just houses but enduring relationships and strong communities.

He loved the water, fishing off the jetties in Queens, captaining his Chris-Craft on the Great South Bay, and tending his gardens with care. He also enjoyed sharing meals and friendship at his restaurant, Vincent’s, in Punta Gorda, Florida.

A Living TributeIn lieu of flowers or charitable donations, the family kindly requests that a tree be planted to honor Vincent’s memory.

Forever in Our HeartsVincent will be remembered for his humor, generosity, hard work, and the unwavering love he gave to his family and friends, as well as for the determined spirit with which he lived life entirely, proudly, and always, “My Way.”
