Stony Brook University installs eleven endowed faculty members

Eleven faculty members from Stony Brook University were officially installed in endowed positions on October 25 at the Charles B. Wang Center Theater. The university has made video profiles of each member available on a YouTube playlist.

The invested faculty include Ivet Bahar, PhD, who holds the Louis and Beatrice Laufer Endowed Director and Chair in Physical and Quantitative Biology; Michael Bender, PhD, the John L. Hennessy Endowed Professor in Computer Science; Lina Carlini, PhD, the Laufer Family Endowed Professor of Physical and Quantitative Biology; Manisha Desai, PhD, the Empowerment Charitable Trust (ECT) Endowed Professor in Global Citizenship; Ken A. Dill, PhD, the Laufer Family Endowed Chair of Physical and Quantitative Biology; Stephanie Dinkins, MFA, the Yayoi Kusama Endowed Professor of Art; Petar Djuric, PhD, the Savitri Devi Bangaru Term Professor in Artificial Intelligence; Christopher J. Gobler, PhD, the Endowed Chair of Coastal Ecology and Conservation; Kenneth Gow, MD, the Knapp Swezey Endowed Chair in Pediatric Surgery; Carlos Simmerling, PhD, the Marsha Laufer Endowed Professor of Physical and Quantitative Biology; and Sthaneshwar Timalsina, PhD as Nirmal K. and Augustina Mattoo Endowed Chair in Classical Indic Humanities.
