The Stony Brook School of Nursing's online master's program has been recognized among the top 10 in the U.S. News and World Report Best Online Programs Rankings for the sixth consecutive year. The program, which ranked eighth this year, moved up one position from last year's ranking.

The evaluation of programs is based on several key performance indicators, including engagement, faculty credentials and training, and peer assessment. Patricia Bruckenthal, dean of the School of Nursing, commented on the achievement: "This ranking is a testament to not only our faculty expertise but the clinical opportunities associated with an academic medical center and being part of the No. 1 public university in New York State."

Since 1994, SBU’s School of Nursing has been offering high-quality online programs. Currently, all graduate programs are available through distance education with certain on-site requirements.

In addition to nursing, Stony Brook's online master's in education for Higher Education Administration improved its standing to No. 104, climbing 17 places from last year. Meanwhile, the online master's in business for the Master of Science in Human Resource Management saw a slight decline, dropping three places to No. 74. Both these programs are managed by the School of Professional Development.
