The Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine's Class of 2025 has achieved notable success in the Postdoctoral Residency Matching Program. Forty-six students have secured placements in various residency programs across New York State and other parts of the United States, including one graduate who will join the United States Navy Dental Corps this summer.

These graduates will begin their careers in 11 states, participating in programs covering general dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, and prosthodontics. Dean Patrick Lloyd expressed pride in the class's achievements: “I am incredibly proud of the members of the Class of 2025, who are more than ready to take the next step in their journey.”

A significant number of graduates will remain in New York State for their residencies. Among them is Lauren Mistretta, who will join Stony Brook's Advanced Dental Education Program in orthodontics. She shared her enthusiasm: “I am incredibly grateful to have matched into Stony Brook’s orthodontics program and couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter.”

Beyond New York, graduates have found positions in several states including California, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia. Ajaypal Panesar will return to his home state by joining the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center's Advanced Education in General Dentistry program in Togus, Maine. He remarked on the significance: “Having been born and raised in Maine...this opportunity is especially meaningful to me.”

Another student, Aabir Aslam matched with the University of Texas Health Houston General Practice Residency program at Texas Medical Center. Aslam noted: “Training in such a dynamic environment with amazing faculty...will help me grow as a clinician.”

Since its establishment in 1973, Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine has educated over 1,600 dentists and specialists. It remains one of two state dental schools in New York and offers a comprehensive curriculum along with seven advanced education programs accredited by CODA.
