William Floyd High School hosts playoff game against Ward Melville

The William Floyd High School boys' varsity basketball team is set to host a Class AAA quarterfinal playoff game this Thursday, February 27, at 4:00 pm in the West Gym. The Colonials ended their season with an impressive 17-3 overall record and an undefeated 12-0 record in League I, securing their third consecutive league title. The team aims to reach the Suffolk County Championship game again and possibly secure a county championship.

In this first playoff match of the season, the Colonials, holding the No. 3 seed, will face No. 6 Ward Melville, who has a 13-7 overall record and an 8-4 record in League II.

Admission for this round of playoffs is managed by Section XI, with tickets priced at $8.35 each ($7 plus a $1.35 service fee). Children aged 12 and under can attend for free. Tickets are available online, and QR codes for ticket purchase will be provided at the gate as cash or checks are not accepted by Section XI.

Earlier this year, several milestones were achieved by members of the team. The Boys’ Varsity Basketball Team secured its third consecutive league title. Senior Jawuan Smith reached a career milestone by scoring his 1,000th point. Furthermore, three student-athletes from WFHS were named among Newsday's Top 100 Boys’ Basketball Players.
