Laura Mole recognized as fine arts wall of distinction honoree

Laura Mole, a seasoned musician and educator, has been honored as a Fine Arts Wall of Distinction honoree for 2025. She holds both BA and MA degrees in music from CUNY Queens College. Her career in education includes serving as an orchestra director at William Floyd High School from 1990 until her retirement in 2008. Additionally, she taught in several school districts such as Half Hollow Hills, Uniondale, East Meadow, North Shore, Plainedge, Baldwin, and also at Nassau County Community College.

During her tenure at William Floyd High School, Mole was motivated by her students' talents. Her students achieved numerous recognitions over the years, including 17 years of “Gold” or “Gold with Distinction” ratings at NYSSMA Majors. Reflecting on her career achievements, Mole stated that "her real joy was in making music and inspiring the next generation of musicians to play their hearts out."

Mole's professional performance experience is extensive. She has participated in chamber music recitals and orchestras throughout the metropolitan area since earning her college degrees. As a member of both the Queens Symphony and Orchestra of Long Island, she has performed at various outdoor venues and collaborated with students through school programs.

Currently teaching as a violin professor at Long Island University Post campus and as an adjunct professor at CUNY Queens College, Mole continues to influence aspiring musicians. Her past performances include concerts at prestigious locations such as Carnegie Hall, Tilles Center, NJPA in Newark, Vienna, Italy, and China with the New York Symphony.

In addition to performing freelance work where she is often sought after as a concertmaster for choral groups, Mole serves educational roles including All-State chairperson and NYSSMA judge. She has conducted the Gemini Youth Orchestra and Metropolitan Youth Orchestra while maintaining a studio in Huntington.
