The William Floyd Colonials boys' varsity basketball team secured a victory in their quarterfinal playoff game against Ward Melville, winning with a final score of 68-47. This win allows the Colonials to advance to the semifinals, where they will face Bay Shore on March 4 at Longwood High School. The upcoming match is a rematch of last year's Suffolk County Championship game, which saw Bay Shore narrowly defeating William Floyd.

In the recent game, Sharod Sutton emerged as the leading scorer for the Colonials with 15 points. JJ Smith delivered an impressive performance by achieving a double-double with 12 points and a team-high of 10 rebounds. He also contributed seven assists, another team-high. Dahmarion Moses and Jermaine King played pivotal roles as well, with Moses scoring 14 points and securing eight rebounds while King added 13 points.

For those attending the semifinals, Section XI has announced that admission costs $8.35 per ticket ($7 plus a $1.35 service fee), while children aged 12 or under can attend for free. Tickets can be purchased online or via QR codes available at the gate, as cash or checks will not be accepted.

The Colonials have had a successful season so far, finishing with an overall record of 17-3 and maintaining a perfect league record to secure their third consecutive league title. They aim to reach back-to-back Suffolk County Championship games and hope to claim the county championship this year.

Congratulations are extended to all student-athletes and coaches on their quarterfinal victory as they prepare for their next challenge in the semifinals.
