Stony Brook University to host event on AI and human communication

Stony Brook University’s College of Business is set to host a virtual event titled "Artificial Intelligence: Reshaping Learning and Work – Building Human Connections Through Communication" on April 15. This event will be conducted through Zoom from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.

The focus of this gathering is the burgeoning role of artificial intelligence in transforming education and business, particularly in the context of communication. Two notable speakers headlining the event are Velchamy Sankarlingam, president of product and engineering at Zoom, and Simeon Ananou, vice president for information technology and CIO at Stony Brook University. Haresh Gurnani, known for his acumen in business education and the dean of the College of Business, will moderate the discussion.

The dialogue will center on the impact of AI in improving interactions and connectivity through technological advancements. Sankarlingam, who is an alumnus of Stony Brook University, will detail the evolution of AI-driven communication tools at Zoom. Meanwhile, Ananou will speak about the application of AI in educational settings for enhancing administrative processes and learning experiences.

The session aims to be insightful, addressing both the practical benefits and ethical implications of AI. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with experts during an interactive Q&A session.
