Stony Brook University Giving Day sets new record with over $1 million raised

Stony Brook University celebrated a successful seventh annual Giving Day, raising over $1 million in a 24-hour span. This year marked a new record, with more than 3,800 individuals contributing to various campus programs and funds. The number of donors surpassed last year's by over 18 percent, supporting 150 programs.

Key areas benefiting from donations include student experiences, impactful research, community health, enriching arts and culture, and climate action. Interim President Richard L. McCormick emphasized the importance of this day, saying, “Giving Day is a remarkable day of generosity and an opportunity to energize Stony Brook’s unstoppable momentum. Each gift drives innovation and excellence, empowering our students, faculty and medical professionals to excel and push the boundaries of their potential. Stony Brook is deeply grateful to our generous donors who made this year another record-breaking success.”

The Stony Brook Alumni Association contributed $10,000 in challenges, with $5,000 awarded to the VIP Hockey Club, which had the highest number of donors, totaling 277. Support for the initiative spanned across 14 countries and 47 states.
