Electrical engineering students gathered at Stony Brook University from April 4 to 6 for the IEEE Region 1 and Region 2 StuCon 2025. Attendees at the annual conference engaged in hands-on workshops, technical and professional competitions, and networking opportunities with fellow students, alumni, industry professionals, and IEEE leaders.
The event attracted students primarily pursuing majors or careers in electrical and computer engineering. Conference organizers noted a strong participation from robotics enthusiasts, while workshops attracted students from fields like radio frequency, machine learning, and cybersecurity. Dylan Wong, a computer engineering student and president of the IEEE student chapter, played a leading role in coordinating the event.
The conference began with a Fireside Chat on April 4, featuring alumni from Stony Brook's College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Moderated by Andréa Lipack, the panel discussion focused on workplace power skills, professional development, and economic mobility. Distinguished alumni panelists included Edward Knapp, Robert Wild, Robert Pang, and William Forman.
"As students prepare to enter the industry, I can only imagine how many questions they may have," commented Robert Wild. "Participating in events gives students direct access to industry leaders, which provides insight to help them navigate their careers, as well as fosters their passion for entering the workforce."
