Stony Brook University beautifies campus for Earthstock celebration

Christine McGrath Culture Committee Co-chair | Stony Brook University

Stony Brook University’s Advancement team observed Earthstock on April 25 with a beautification effort on campus. Over 40 volunteers left their office roles to tend to the outdoor area near the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics with gardening activities, such as mulching and pruning.

The event marked the second annual Advancement Volunteer Day, organized by Advancement’s culture committee with support from the Center for Service Learning and Community Service. Participants spent the morning engaged in tasks like pulling English ivy.

“Our team’s core purpose is to work with alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students to help drive Stony Brook forward,” stated Christine McGrath, Culture Committee Co-chair. “We thought this would be a great way to bring our team together, reinforce that purpose and make a tangible impact on the experiences students, faculty, staff and visitors have when they are on campus.”

Images and a detailed story about the event are available on SB Matters.
