Six students from Suffolk County Community College have received recognition as 2025 PTK All-State Scholars. Additionally, four of these students earned honors as Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholars. The award is based on their performance in the All-USA Academic Team competition, sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, which provides $200,000 annually to about 150 students as Gold, Silver, and Bronze Scholars.
Udya Dewanamuni and Carolina Hernandez Alvarez were named Gold Scholars, each receiving a $1,500 scholarship. Julia Heller-Bomba earned the Silver Scholar title with a $1,250 scholarship. Nancy Lorme was named a Bronze Scholar, receiving $1,000. Suffolk County Community College President Dr. Edward Bonahue stated, “We are incredibly proud of the achievements of these students, who embody the spirit of academic excellence and community service.”
Each student exemplifies academic achievement and community service in different ways. Brianna Calle Boror, Udya Dewanamuni, Carolina Hernandez Alvarez, Julia Heller-Bomba, Nina Kezys, and Nancy Lorme have all distinguished themselves not just in academics but also in leadership roles and community involvement.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation recognizes student leaders and awards scholarships to 1,400 students each year through several programs. Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, responsible for administering the Coca-Cola program, serves to recognize academic excellence in associate degree-granting colleges.
Suffolk County Community College is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, serving over 21,000 students with a commitment to workforce development and education.
