William Floyd music concert raises $4,500 for student scholarships

Robert Taiani Vice President | William Floyd School District

The William Floyd School District Music Department recently held its 42nd annual faculty scholarship concert. This event features music educators from various schools in the district who volunteer their time to perform well-known songs. The concert, aimed at raising funds for William Floyd seniors who plan to continue their music education in college, successfully collected about $4,500 through ticket sales and gift card raffles.

Dr. Amy Sckipp, Coordinator of Music, emphasized the significance of the tradition, sharing a memorable moment with former student and current William Paca chorus director Maggie Pizzarelli. Dr. Sckipp recalled, “One of my favorite quotes comes from William Floyd alumna and current William Paca chorus director, Maggie Pizzarelli. After congratulating her on a job well done, she said, ‘I’ve been dreaming of being in this concert since I was in elementary school!’ The fact that she was inspired as a student and this concert lives in her memory with such passion is the very love and dedication that William Floyd music teachers have for their subject and more importantly for their students!”

Participants in the concert included faculty members such as Mabel Andia, Juliana Asselta, Julia Bellante, Tomas Bradbard, Kaylee Cardone, Zachary Carrillo, Dawn Conefry, Joe Cordaro, Gabriella Forgit, Amanda Gardner, Garry Helbock, Sharon Kitzis, Katelyn Levine, Michelle Manion, Chris Miranda, Leanna Ozman, Maggie Pizzarelli, Garrett Rode, Berkeley Rousseau, Maria Rueda, Jessica Salaway, John Sapanaro, Kailey Schnurman, Joel Staub, Sarah Weber, and Dara Wolfert.
