Richard L. McCormick Interim President | Stony Brook University

Twenty students from Stony Brook University have been selected to receive the Provost’s Award for Academic Excellence this year. The award recognizes graduating seniors who have excelled academically, engaged in research and creative activities, or contributed to strengthening the academic community on campus.

Carl W. Lejuez, executive vice provost for academic affairs and provost, expressed his admiration for the recipients: “I’m deeply impressed by each of these students and their consistent hard work and dedication to their studies.” He emphasized that Stony Brook's reputation as a leading public university is bolstered not only by its faculty and research but also by its outstanding students.

The award is administered by the Office of the Provost in collaboration with the Division of Undergraduate Education. Rachelle Germana, senior associate provost for undergraduate education, remarked on the significance of honoring these students: “Of course we’re proud of all of our graduates, and we are especially proud of students like these who have made such a difference on our campus and in our community.” She added her pleasure in recognizing them as they prepare to graduate.
