Stony Brook alumna recognized for contributions to government relations

Jaclyn Ahearn Senior Executive Assistant to the President | Stony Brook University

Since earning her master's degree in public policy from Stony Brook University, Czareena Dotchev has been active in advocating for legislation and building coalitions on Capitol Hill. Dotchev, a 2013 graduate, was recently recognized in City & State's 2025 Who’s Who in Government Relations.

"I feel like this is the beginning of a new chapter in my life to amplify the advocacy that I’m currently working on at the International Trademark Association," said Dotchev. "Being highlighted by this prestigious organization gives me a megaphone to show how public policy impacts the economy and people’s lives."

During her time at Stony Brook, Dotchev interned with New York Senator Charles Schumer's Long Island regional office. This experience led to a full-time position as a representative for Schumer's office after graduation. She now works in government relations at the International Trademark Association (INTA), focusing on strategies that affect trademark legislation and policy both nationally and internationally.

"Because of my thorough understanding of public policies, I am now able to advocate for those policies and use my government experience — and what I learned at Stony Brook — and put that all together in my role at INTA," said Dotchev.

More insights from Dotchev can be found in her Q&A featured in SB Matters.
