Selected Shorts returns to Stony Brook Southampton with notable performers

The radio show and podcast "Selected Shorts" is set to return to Stony Brook Southampton for an evening dedicated to short fiction. The event will take place at the Avram Theater on Friday, July 11, at 7 pm. Host Meg Wolitzer will be joined by actors Becky Ann Baker, Dylan Baker, Richard Kind, and Sonia Manzano as they present stories from authors such as Patricia Marx and Kurt Vonnegut.

Richard Kind's recent work includes participation in the Broadway production "All In: Comedy About Love." His past credits span across Broadway shows like "Kiss Me Kate" and films such as "Argo." Becky Ann Baker has received recognition for her role in "Girls" and has appeared in productions like "Freaks and Geeks" and "The Good Wife."

Dylan Baker's career encompasses roles in both film and television, including "Dream Scenario," "The Resort," and the Broadway revival of "The Front Page." Sonia Manzano is known for creating the children's program "Alma’s Way" for PBS Kids and her long-standing role as “Maria” on Sesame Street.

Meg Wolitzer is a bestselling author known for works such as "The Female Persuasion" and serves as a faculty member at Stony Brook University. She also co-founded BookEnds, a program for emerging novelists.

"Selected Shorts," which began over thirty-five years ago at Symphony Space in Manhattan, continues to feature well-known actors bringing stories by established and emerging writers to life. Each event presents a unique literary performance experience.
