Po-Shen Loh to speak on adapting skills for artificial intelligence era

The Convergence lecture series is set to begin with a presentation on artificial intelligence and its impact on society and the workforce. The event, titled “How to Thrive in the Age of AI,” will feature Po-Shen Loh, a social entrepreneur, inventor, and mathematics professor at Carnegie Mellon University.

Loh will discuss how creative problem-solving, judgment, and communication are becoming increasingly important as automation expands. He will also address how students and professionals can develop these skills to adapt to an automated future.

“How to Thrive in the Age of AI” is scheduled for noon on Saturday, September 20, at the Charles B. Wang Center Theater. The event is open to the public at no cost; however, seating is limited and attendees are encouraged to reserve their spots online.

Loh’s background includes serving as national coach of the USA Mathematical Olympiad team, which has won four gold medals during his tenure. He has also worked on projects related to pandemic response and educational technology. Through his nationwide speaking tour—reaching 250 audiences across 100 cities—Loh has developed a framework for succeeding alongside artificial intelligence. His innovations have been featured in or co-created YouTube videos that have garnered more than 25 million views.
