Priscilla Knapp Teich, a longtime supporter of Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Medicine, has created an endowed fund to advance research at the university’s medical school. The new Stony Brook Medicine Endowed Research Fund is intended to strengthen research within the Renaissance School of Medicine.
Knapp Teich expressed her continued admiration for the institution’s research efforts, stating, “Stony Brook has been part of my life for many years, and I’ve seen firsthand the dedication and brilliance of its researchers. I’ve long admired their commitment to advancing knowledge and improving lives. I’m honored to help strengthen its research enterprise for the benefit of future generations. My hope is that this support will accelerate discoveries that will transform lives for our community, as well as patients and families around the world.”
The fund aims to enable researchers at Stony Brook to pursue significant projects addressing both local and global health issues. Its impact will be increased through matching programs from New York State and the Simons Infinity Investment Match Challenge, potentially tripling the resources available.
William Wertheim, Executive Vice President of Stony Brook Medicine, acknowledged the ongoing contributions of Knapp Teich and her family over three decades. “We are deeply grateful to Priscilla and the Knapp family for their philanthropic support over the past 30 years,” Wertheim said. “This most recent gift will not only leave a lasting legacy on Stony Brook Medicine, it empowers us to pursue breakthroughs that will change lives and reshape the future of healthcare.”
Knapp Teich and her family have also supported other initiatives at Stony Brook, including programs in the Renaissance School of Medicine, construction of Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, and plans for expanding the pediatric emergency department.
