April Coppola President | William Floyd School District

William Floyd School District officials hosted New York State Senator Dean Murray and Assemblyman Joseph DeStefano for a visit to Moriches Elementary School. The visit included a tour of several classrooms, including the school's STEM lab where students demonstrated book-to-screen integration as part of their learning activities.

The tour also highlighted classrooms that use specialized furniture aimed at improving concentration, collaboration, and social-emotional learning among students. After touring the facilities, district leaders met with the legislators to discuss current needs and how state support can continue to benefit education in the district.

April Coppola, President of the William Floyd Board of Education, expressed appreciation for the legislators' involvement: "We are grateful to Senator Murray and Assemblyman DeStefano for their continued advocacy and support of our schools and community," said Coppola. "They both work hard to ensure that the schools and communities that they represent, including William Floyd, have all that they need to succeed."

The school district thanked both Senator Murray and Assemblyman DeStefano for dedicating time from their schedules to engage with educators and students during their visit.
