Smithtown Celebrates Night of Champions

The Smithtown Central School District Board of Education proudly recognized several championship teams this week during its Board of Education meeting, celebrating an outstanding year marked by dedication, perseverance, and athletic excellence. Each team was introduced by Director of Athletics Jason Lambert, who highlighted the remarkable accomplishments achieved throughout the season.

The Smithtown girls swim team capped off another dominant campaign by finishing as back-to-back New York State champions, earning their third state title in the past four years. The program also captured its fifth consecutive county championship, continuing its reputation as one of the premier swim programs in the state.

The Smithtown gymnastics team also enjoyed a historic season, winning back-to-back county championships. The title marked the team’s fourth county championship in the last five years, further establishing its consistency and success at the highest level of competition.

Smithtown East girls volleyball was honored after being named the Class AA County Champions while also securing the League 3 championship. The team’s strong performance throughout the season showcased depth, resilience, and teamwork, culminating in a championship run.

The Smithtown West football team was also recognized following a memorable season. The Bulls captured the Big 4 League Championship, marking the first time in school history the program has won back-to-back Big 4 titles. In addition, the team advanced to its first county championship game since 2001, an achievement that reflected the program’s growth and commitment.

Rounding out the list of honorees was the Smithtown boys cross country team. The squad earned the League 1 championship and finished second at the divisional championships. Even more impressive, the team is currently in the midst of an incredible streak of 60 consecutive dual meet victories.

The Board of Education congratulated all of the athletes, coaches, and families for their hard work and dedication, recognizing these teams as outstanding representatives of the Smithtown Central School District.

SWR Wins the White Plains Tiger Invitational

The Shoreham-Wading River varsity wrestling team captured the team championship at the White Plains Tiger Invitational this week, delivering a dominant performance against strong competition. The Wildcats defeated 11 other teams representing Section I, Section IX, and the Catholic High School Athletic Association, showcasing their depth, toughness, and consistency throughout the tournament.
