Beware Of The Overreaction

Week one can certainly give some insight, but we also have to remember there is a ramp up and try not to get caught up in our freshest memory. Just last season on the first Monday Night football game the Jets beat the Bills, despite Aaron Rodgers going down. The Texans were beat down as CJ Stroud and the offense failed to produce even one touchdown, while the Browns and Falcons looked like world beaters with easy division wins. We also saw 12 of the 16 games go under the total and plenty of the public believed the NFL would be a defense first league from here on out.

Casey Runs Wild For 5 TDs

Shoreham-Wading River dominated from the opening coin flip and never looked back. Their recipe for this game was simple, give the ball to Sean Casey and let him run wild. That's exactly what the young man did. Casey rumbled for 131 yards and 5 total touchdowns. He had not one, but two return touchdowns of more than 70 yards and if that wasn't enough to fill up the stat sheet Casey also amassed 14 tackles on defense.

Three Times A Charm For Fredette

The East Moriches native played a pivotal role in securing the silver medal at the paralympics. Fredette led his wheelchair rugby team to a victory and now has three silver medals to his name. Fredette is no stranger to winning. He has participated in two World Championships in 2018, and 2022 bringing home a silver and bronze medal and now has participated in three paralympics. His three-peat began in 2016 when he won silver at Rio de Janeiro, then in 2020 in Tokyo he took home a mixed silver and this season he topped off the hat trick in Paris. Fredette's story of courage and perseverance is truly remarkable. He was paralyzed from the chest down when he fell head-first from his dirt bike as a freshman in college. His mother and him watched the documentary "Murderball," when he was in recovery and that inspired him to start playing wheelchair rugby, and the rest they say is history. That history is now a mantle full of trophies.

Be Careful With Week 1 Trends ... But Here They Are

The NFL season brings out sports bettors more than any other sport and this year it's expected to be no different. Week 1 offers a unique situation for those who are in the know. The opening week of the season is met with the public jumping on a few key areas that professionals usually steer clear of. Whether it be the local media hyping up the public's hometown team or the mainstream media pushing the hot franchise that everyone loves, it's a time where the lines will get thrown off by perception, as opposed to reality. This can amount to as much as a 3 point difference in the perceived line vs. what the line should be.
