Ronald McDonald House Charities hosts fundraising run for new facility

Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Metro is organizing “Anthony’s Red Shoe Fund Run” on Sunday, October 13, to support its capital campaign for a new $30 million house at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.

Scheduled to open in 2026, the facility will offer a safe and comfortable environment for families of hospitalized children. The 60,000 square foot center will provide no-cost housing, respite, meals, and hospitality services near the hospital. This will be the first Ronald McDonald House in Suffolk County and only the second on Long Island.

Check-in and day-of-race registration begins at 9 am, with the race starting at 10 am at the Student Activities Center at Stony Brook University. The registration fee includes a T-shirt and access to an after-event patio party featuring music and food trucks. Prizes will be awarded in various age group categories and team categories.
