At a recent Town Board meeting held on January 9, the Brookhaven Town Board recognized Dr. Shaorui Li for her contributions through her work with the Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Advisory Board. Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich joined in honoring Dr. Li at this event.

The Town of Brookhaven aims to acknowledge and enhance cultural understanding, awareness, inclusivity, and visibility within its community. "Asian Americans represent a vital and valued part of the culture, society, and economy of the Town of Brookhaven," noted the town's commitment statement. The town remains dedicated to ensuring equality and opportunity for all residents while promoting access to civic, economic, educational, and cultural opportunities.
