Wendy Pearson honored as 'Woman of Distinction' by Town of Southampton

Wendy Pearson, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Executive Director of Stony Brook Southampton at Stony Brook University, was recognized by the Town of Southampton as one of its "Women of Distinction" on March 6. The recognition event took place at Southampton Town Hall and was organized by the Anti-Bias Task Force Committee.

Pearson's nomination came from Town Supervisor Maria Z. Moore, acknowledging her contributions to the community. During the ceremony, honorees were awarded certificates recognizing their "outstanding leadership and dedicated service."

The certificates included a message: “Thank you for your outstanding efforts to improve our quality of life, encourage positive human relations and, above all, inspire dignity and respect for our multicultural and diverse community.” These were signed by Moore along with town council members Michael A. Iasilli, Cyndi McNamara, and William Pell IV.

Since joining Stony Brook in November 2023, Pearson has collaborated with campus leaders to advance institutional priorities and develop plans for the Stony Brook Southampton campus.
