Olivia Chen, a seventh-grade student at William Floyd Middle School, has been named the Suffolk County spelling bee champion. She achieved this by correctly spelling the word "amoeba" at the Bay Shore Buzz Countywide Middle School bee. Last year, Olivia finished in the top three as a sixth grader.

For her victory, Olivia received a trophy and a $500 prize sponsored by the Bay Shore Middle School Student Council. Her success was celebrated with congratulations from those around her.
