Stony Brook Southampton hosts weekly farmers market featuring FoodLab Farm produce

Kevin Gardner, Vice President for Research and Innovation | Stony Brook University

Fresh produce grown at Stony Brook Southampton’s FoodLab Farm is being offered every Friday at the campus’s Farmer’s Market Fridays. The market takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Library lobby during September and October.

The FoodLab Farm, located on the Southampton campus, supplies all the produce for the market. The farm operates less than a mile from where its goods are sold, emphasizing local sourcing and fresh options for students and staff.

A special tabling event highlighting FoodLab’s activities is scheduled for Friday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., also in the Library lobby. Organizers aim to inform attendees about ongoing initiatives on campus.

According to organizers, “FoodLab is more than a farm, it’s an incubator for regional food systems, driving innovation through education, hands-on learning and community partnerships. With a mission to position Stony Brook University as a global leader in food-related issues, FoodLab is working to: Meet the team, explore volunteer or academic opportunities, and discover how to become a part of the movement toward healthier people, communities, and the planet.”
