William Floyd's Zariel Macchia named among top cross-country runners by Newsday
Zariel Macchia, a senior on the William Floyd High School cross-country team, has been recognized as one of the top 25 girls’ cross-country runners by Newsday. The publication noted her impressive achievements: “She won the Federation title in 17:59.4 and finished second in Class A, and in the merge, in 17:44.3 at the public-school state championships. The BYU commit, who already has a Class A title to her name, is the fastest runner in the state…and one of the fastest girls in the country.”

New York couple sues Nassau County over unlawful firearm seizure
John and Elizabeth Burke have filed a federal lawsuit against Nassau County alleging unconstitutional seizure and retention of their firearms following a minor incident in December 2017. The couple claims violations of their Second and Fifth Amendment rights and seeks declaratory and equitable relief from the court.

In a landmark antitrust class action lawsuit filed on September 12, 2024, UCLA neuroscientist Dr Lucina Uddin accuses six major academic publishers of colluding to exploit scholars' unpaid labor and stifle scientific progress through unlawful practices including fixing peer review prices at zero and imposing restrictive submission rules.

New Clerk on Board at Patchogue-Medford School District
