Ward Melville Meets Real Heros
With a playoff game on the horizon and a championship in their sights the Ward Melville boys lacrosse program took time out of their practice schedule to visit some real heros. No, not their lacrosse idols, but rather they visited the Stony Brook Veteran's Home.The boys spent the day at the home and devoted their time to meet with and enjoy the company of those that served. Ward Melville's head coach Jay Negus said the visit was "Truly a humbling experience," and then said "Thank you for your service gentleman. Ward Melville Lacrosse appreciates you!"
Dom Dominates as Player of the Year
LaFroscia was named the Region XV Player of the Year after putting up a .408/.502/.669 slash line for the sharks. He also scored 65 runs, had 62 RBI and 6 home runs this past season. The numbers don't stop there. In just 51 games played he had 69 hits and 24 doubles, but he was also patient at the plate and was able to take 29 walks. Once he got on base he was a problem for the opposing catchers as well with 28 steals in just 31 attempts.
