Bonner hosts successful recycling event in Miller Place

On October 5, Councilwoman Jane Bonner hosted a recycling event at the Rose Caracappa Senior Citizen Cultural & Wellness Center in Miller Place. The event provided an opportunity for residents to dispose of electronic devices, shred old paper documents, and safely discard prescription drugs. Participants arrived in 517 vehicles, contributing 7,260 pounds of electronic waste, 16,600 pounds of paper for shredding, and 12 boxes of prescription drugs.

Bellport man indicted following record fentanyl seizure in Suffolk

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney has announced the indictment of Remon Gibson, 43, from Bellport, on charges including Operating as a Major Trafficker. The charges follow what is described as the largest fentanyl seizure in Suffolk history. Law enforcement reportedly discovered 33 pounds of illegal narcotics at Gibson's residence, consisting of approximately 7 kilograms of fentanyl and 8 kilograms of cocaine.

Ronkonkoma man pleads guilty to manslaughter for double homicide

Top Notes for Eastport-South Manor Student-Musicians

The Eastport-South Manor Central School District is proud to announce that three of the district's top student-musicians were selected to participate in the New York State School Music Association All-State Winter Conference Honors Ensembles, to be held in Rochester on Dec. 5-8.  Aaron Isaacson (French horn) was selected for the Symphonic Band on French Horn and Emma Gallagher (alto I) was selected into the Mixed Chorus. Double bass player John Schroeder had the rare distinction of being selected to perform in two NYSSMA All-State ensembles. John elected to participate with the Instrumental Jazz Ensemble over the String Orchestra. Each year, more than 6,800 New York State students auditioned for spots in the All-State Honors Ensembles, the Eastport-South Manor music department is incredibly proud of these musicians and their accomplishments and extends best wishes for success at the NYSSMA All-State Winter Conference.
