On October 20, Councilwoman Jane Bonner marked the grand opening of The Wax Bar, a new waxing studio in Rocky Point. Located at 648 Route 25A, the establishment provides a variety of waxing services for both women and men. In addition to services, the business offers packages, classes, gift cards, and products.

On October 18, Councilwoman Jane Bonner and Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich visited the Sunshine Alternative Education Center (SAEC) in Port Jefferson Station. The purpose of their visit was to engage with students about their responsibilities as members of the Brookhaven Town Council. Dr. Carol Carter, Administrator/Prevention Professional, also participated in the event.

Bonner hosts successful recycling event in Miller Place

On October 5, Councilwoman Jane Bonner hosted a recycling event at the Rose Caracappa Senior Citizen Cultural & Wellness Center in Miller Place. The event provided an opportunity for residents to dispose of electronic devices, shred old paper documents, and safely discard prescription drugs. Participants arrived in 517 vehicles, contributing 7,260 pounds of electronic waste, 16,600 pounds of paper for shredding, and 12 boxes of prescription drugs.

Ronkonkoma road paving projects completed by Brookhaven officials

Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilman Neil Foley have announced the completion of two significant paving projects in the Ronkonkoma/Holbrook area. The first project involved resurfacing Ackerly Lane, stretching from Portion Road in Ronkonkoma to Patchogue Holbrook Road in Holbrook. This undertaking included inspecting and installing drains, as well as repairing and replacing damaged concrete curbing and aprons. The total cost for this project was $221,000.

Brookhaven preserves 3.5 acres of open space in Middle Island

On September 24, Supervisor Dan Panico was present to thank the Town of Brookhaven’s demolition crew as they prepared to demolish a blighted house and cottage in Middle Island. This action is part of an effort to preserve 3.5 acres of open space. The Town acquired the parcel along East Bartlett Road to protect it from future development and maintain its natural state. The land is located on the boundary between the Core of the Central Pine Barrens and the Compatible Growth Area, featuring a quarter-acre pond, rolling topography, and old-growth woodlands.

Brookhaven holds memorial for 23rd anniversary of 9/11 attacks

Farmingville, NY – On September 11, Supervisor Dan Panico led a memorial service to honor the nearly 3,000 people who perished as a result of the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, DC, and at Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The ceremony was held at the 9/11 Memorial Garden at Brookhaven Town Hall and included the traditional ringing of the fire bell by Chief Fire Marshal Chris Mehrman in memory of the first responders who heroically gave their lives in the line of duty.
